Youth Worker for Young Carers

YMCA Brunel Group is looking for a Youth Worker to support young carers in the Yeovil area.

YMCA Brunel Group is an independent, locally governed and managed charity operating in Mendip, Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire and South Somerset. It’s part of the international YMCA movement whose mission is to create supportive, inclusive and energising communities, where people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.

YMCA Brunel Group provide accommodation for hundeds of people every year who are at risk of being homeless, who are on low incomes, experience barriers to work, or young people in need of high levels of support, who have often experienced trauma and difficult times in their lives. They also run youth clubs for young people aged 10-19, including groups for young carers, that provide a space where they can have dedicated time to talk to trusted youth workers, access relevant information about issues that concern them, and develop their social networks.

The group is looking for a Youth Worker to support young carers in the Yeovil area. The Youth Worker will provide a safe environment for their clients in a youth club environment, deliver an effective service provision for to all young people accessing the club, and promote the club to other agencies as well as the general public.

The successful candidate will have Youth Work NVQ level 2, or equivalent qualification in a relevant professional discipline. They will have experience working face-to-face with young people aged 11-19, and knowledge of issues affecting young people to aid them to achieve their full potential.

This is a part-time role on a fixed-term contract until March 2024, with the opportunity to extend should funding be available.
