Community Connector Coordinator

We’re on a mission to help change lives and build healthy, resilient communities in Somerset.

We do this by supporting and championing voluntary and community organisations and providing a range of services, training and advice, and developing social prescribing networks across the county.

Pivotal to our success in this is a Community Connector Coordinator, who will build on the existing ‘Connector’ training happening within Somerset which is now seen as an integral part of the ‘whole community approach to social prescribing’.

Connectors are community members who receive brief training on a topic and then pass this information to friends, family and neighours, if and when the opportunity arises. To date over 2,000 people have received ‘connector’ training across Somerset. Those who have trained are from across a range of roles and backgrounds – taxi drivers, hairdressers, police people, shop staff, sixth for students, doctors, community group members and more.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working alongside people in similar roles to roll out place-based connector type training across Somerset. This will also include the development of a Community Blood Pressure Connector programme in partnership with Public Health and NHS Somerset.

This is a full-time role, working on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2025.
